Kapetanovic is Director Electricity at the Austrian Energy Regulatory
Authority E-Control since 2001 (www.e-control.at).
He is also the co-chair of the ERGEG Electricity Network & Market
TF, and the CEER Electricity Security of Supply TF (www.energy-regulators.eu).
In the EU Technology Platform Smart Grids he is a member of the
Advisory Council and the chair of the WG Network Operations since
2005 (www.smartgrids.eu).
Before E-Control, he spent ten years on different assignments in
the industry, several years in academic research and lectured in
power systems, security of supply and energy management, at the
University of Zagreb, Imperial College of London and Vienna University
of Technology. He holds Dipl.-Ing., MSc and PhD in Energy and Power
Systems. He is author of numerous publications and lectures regularly
at the Austrian and international conferences.

Venizelos Efthymiou

Dr
Venizelos Efthymiou is a holder of the UMIST university
degrees: BSc in Electrical Engineering and Electronics, Master of
Science (MSc) in Power Systems and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in
Ferroresonance of Transmission Lines and Transformers. Dr Venizelos
Efthymiou joined the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) in March
1979 and he currently holds the post of Network Development Projects
Manager.
As far
as his involvement in subjects related to the electricity industry
and the European Union, he is a member of the Advisory Council of
the Technology Platform for the Electricity Networks of the Future
(TPE) SmartGrids set up by the European Commission, a substitute
member of the Board of Directors of EURELECTRIC and a member of
the Networks Committee of EURELECTRIC. Through his extensive experience
both within EAC, EURELECTRIC and TPE SmartGrids he is a writer of
many reports of technical content and related publications in international
conference proceedings and magazines.

Ronnie
J.M.Belmans (S’77-M’84-SM’89-F’05)
received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering in 1979 and the
Ph.D. in 1984, both from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium,
the special Doctorate in 1989 and the Habilitierung in 1993, both
from the RWTH Aachen, Germany.
Currently,
he is a full professor with the K.U. Leuven, teaching electrical
energy systems including electrical machines. His research interests
include electrical energy transmission systems and the implications
of the liberalised market, renewable energy systems, distributed
power and storage. He was the director of the NATO Advanced Research
Workshop on Vibrations and Audible Noise in Alternating Current
Machines (August 1986). He was with the Laboratory for Electrical
Machines of the RWTH Aachen, Germany, as a Von Humboldt Fellow (October
1988-September 1989). From October 1989 to September 1990, he was
visiting professor at the McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada.
He obtained the chair of the Anglo-Belgian Society at the London
University for the year 1995-1996. He is visiting professor at Imperial
College, London. Since June 2002 he is chairman of the board of
directors of Elia, the Belgian transmission grid operator.
Dr. Belmans
is a member of the IEE (U.K.), the International Compumag Society
and the Koninklijke Vlaamse Ingenieursvereniging (KVIV). From
1 January 2005 he has been elected to the grade of Fellow of the
IEEE.
